A 46-year-old man is in custody because police believe that he assaulted a taxi driver in Waikiki early Tuesday morning.
Police said the suspect was one of two men in the cab who attacked the driver just after midnight.
Both suspects fled, but one was captured later and faces charges of fourth-degree theft, interference with the operator of a public transit vehicle and interfering with reporting of a crime.

Taxi driver was probably driving them around in circles, driving up the fare like they all do to the tourists.
it is a dangerous job at night
Some cab drivers deserve to be beaten up. Remember the portage one who tried to run over a customer twice after he shortchanged him saying he was owed a big tip. Love Lyft, Uber, and Speedi Shuttle. Let Filipinos and Thais open up motorcycle taxis and tricycles. They are so cheap and fun to ride.
Customer demand too citified in Honolulu although it could provide needed employment for those willing to provide the labor-power needed for tricycles. A solution for the unemployed/homeless????
