Charlinda Ioane sailed past a personal best to break into a top 10 list in the Rainbow Wahine track and field program’s indoor record book last weekend.

The senior from Kapolei posted a distance of 51 feet, 6.25 inches in the weight throw, more than a 3-foot improvement on her previous best, at the University of Washington Invitational in Seattle, Wash.
Her long last season was 47-8 set at the MPSF Indoor Championships and her throw last Friday moved her into eighth place in school history in the event.
Ioane returned to the Dempsey Indoor Track facility on Saturday and placed fifth in the shot put with a throw of 46-04.75. She posted the program’s fourth longest throw at 47-7 last year in Seattle. She’ll enter the outdoor season later this spring with the fifth longest throws in the shot put and discus.
The Rainbow Wahine host the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational on Saturday at the Ching Complex before returning to the Pacific Northwest for two more meets in Seattle later this month, including the MPSF championships set for Feb. 26-27.
