Hawaii County police arrested a 9-year-old boy at a charter school in Kau today after allegedly finding a suspicious device in his backpack.
Police got the call at 10:15 a.m. that a student at the Kau Learning Academy in Discovery Harbor had a pipe bomb.
Officers learned school officials found the suspicious device in the boy’s backpack.
Police arrested the boy on suspicion of possessing an explosive device. He was released to a family member.
Police notified the FBI, the Army’s Explosive Ordnance Detail on Oahu, the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Hawaii County Fire Department.
Children grow up much to fast now a days. A little more family time would extend the childhood memories.

Another report said that the boy lives with his grandmother, the dad was visiting over the weekend, and the father was going to take his son to the beach to shoot off fireworks. Great example for a father, eh? NOT…
Agreed. 9 year olds don’t construct explosive devices. There’s definitely an adult’s hand in all of this. He (She?) needs to be charged with child endangerment, for starters.

SA: It’s Ka`u, not Kau. Not being overly picky here, just accurate. It’s like writing “Were irritated” when you really mean “We’re irritated”. It makes a very big difference.
In other news, Donald Trump wants to ban all 9 year-old children from American schools. Because they are, you know, rapists, murderers, drug dealers, etc.
If it is a pipebomb, this is learned behavior. Starts out with pill bottles and black tape. There have been reported cases in rural communities where fishermen use pipebomb to go fishing. Explosion causes concussion, fish float up.
