A collection of military housing including homes on Oahu has been traded between two mainland real estate firms in a $209 million deal.
Texas-based Hunt Cos. purchased the portfolio of 14,500 homes in eight states from Ohio-based Forest City Realty Trust.
The purchase, announced as a tentative deal in November, includes homes at Navy and Marine Corps bases on Oahu that Forest City acquired and renovated under a privatization project with the U.S. government.
Forest City said the sale will allow the company to focus on retail, office and residential apartment assets.
Hunt, which already had a portfolio of about 32,000 military housing units, intends to offer jobs to most of Forest City’s military housing staff.
