The University of Hawaii women’s tennis team lost 4-2 to UC Santa Barbara on Friday at the UH Tennis Complex. The Rainbow Wahine won two doubles matches, but dropped four of five on the singles courts. The No. 3 singles match between UH’s Sarah Gealer and UCSB’s Stefani Stojic was left unfinished, but Stojic held a lead of 2-6, 6-2, 6-5.
Hawaii’s Marina Hruba clinched the No. 2 singles match as she defeated Lou Adler 6-0, 6-3.
HPU baseball splits doubleheader
The Hawaii Pacific men’s baseball team clinched the first contest of a four-game series with Concordia University Irvine, 5-3, but fell to the Eagles 7-5 in the nightcap on Friday at Hans L’Orange Park.
Rico Garcia recorded six strikeouts to earn his third win on the mound for the Sharks (9-2, 1-0 PacWest). In Game 1, HPU and Concordia (4-9, 0-1 PacWest) remained tied at three runs apiece until Austin Inabata’s two-run home run in the sixth inning secured the win.
