Joel Feigler scored 24 points on 9-for-10 shooting from the field and Connor Looney added 19 points as the Hawaii Pacific men’s basketball team defeated Brigham Young-Hawaii 80-58 on Saturday at Moanalua High School.
The Sharks improved to 19-8, 14-6 PacWest.
Scott Friel finished with 22 points and Ian Harward had 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Seasiders (14-11,11-9).

HPU women pummel BYUH
Breanna Mackenzie scored 16 points and CeCe Pearl added 15 as the Hawaii Pacific women’s basketball team beat Brigham Young-Hawaii 84-43 on Saturday at Moanalua High School.
Spencer Gray had 12 points and 10 assists and Aminata Cole finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Sharks (17-10, 14-6).
Natallia Cravens led the Seasiders (11-14, 8-12) with eight points.

UHH sweeps de Namur in softball
The Hawaii Hilo softball team swept a doubleheader against Notre Dame de Namur on Saturday at UHH field to remain undefeated in PacWest play.
The Vulcans improved to 14-5, 6-0 PacWest, while the Argonauts dropped to 1-6, 0-2.
In the first game, Bailey Gaspar batted 4-for-4 with two RBIs in Hilo’s 4-3 win.
Cheyenne Koki, a Mililani High School graduate, had a two-run double in Notre Dame de Namur’s three-run fifth inning.
In the second game, Danielle Wilson allowed three runs — two earned — in a complete-game performance as the Vulcans won 7-3.
Mari Kawano drove in three runs and Victoria Garcia scored three times for Hilo.

In the first game, Rebecca Mawson singled in T. Anu Memea with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Seasiders prevailed 2-1.
In the second game, Chelsea Camello pitched an eight-hitter and Rainelle Matsuoka hit a grand slam in the Silverswords’ 8-0 five-inning victory.
BYUH is 3-11, 1-5 PacWest, while Chaminade is 4-6, 1-1.
HPU’s Yukumoto records 300th career win
The Hawaii Pacific baseball team swept a doubleheader against Concordia University (Calif.) on Saturday at Hans L’Orange Park.
The 10-1 first-game victory was Garrett Yukumoto’s 300th career win as Sharks coach.
Brandon Van Stone pitched an eight-hitter and allowed an unearned run in the victory. He walked three batters and struck out four. Nolan Barraza hit a three-run triple for HPU.
In the second game, Barraza and Jordan Mopas both drove in two runs and Steven Camberos scored three times in the Sharks’ 9-4 victory.
HPU improved to 11-3, 3-1 PacWest, while the Eagles fell to 5-11, 1-3.
Chun captures Pan Am freestyle gold
Clarissa Chun, a Roosevelt High School graduate, won the gold medal in the women’s 105.5-pound freestyle wrestling division at the Pan American Championships on Friday in Frisco, Texas.
Chun, a 2012 Olympic bronze medalist, defeated Canada’s Natasha Kramble 8-4 in the final. It was Chun’s fourth Pan Am gold medal.
The U.S. women won the freestyle team title with 61 points. Canada was second with 47 and Cuba placed third with 42.
Manuel eliminated in semifinals
Hawaii’s Malia Manuel lost to Australia’s Stephanie Gilmore 19.50 to 16.50 in the semifinals of the Taggart Women’s Pro on Saturday at Merewether Beach in Newcastle, Australia.
In the quarterfinals, Manuel beat fellow Hawaii surfer Tatiana Weston-Webb 15.50 to 10.77.
Manuel beat Australia’s Bronte Macaulay and Weston-Webb defeated Australia’s Isabella Nichols in the sixth round. Hawaii’s Mahina Maeda and Alana Blanchard bowed out in the sixth round.
In the men’s Maitland and Port Stephens Pro at Merewether Beach, Hawaii’s Joshua Moniz was ousted in the quarterfinals by Italy’s Leonardo Fioravanti 13.00 to 11.33.
The events are part of the Newcastle Surfest.
