A motorcyclist died Tuesday night after the cycle crashed on Sand Island Access Road.
Police received a report of a motorcyclist down near Mokauea Fishing Village about 6:35 p.m.
Officers contraflowed traffic from the University of Hawaii Marine Center to the Matson container yard while the department’s Vehicular Homicide Section investigated.
Police said the motorcyclist was taken to a hospital in critical condition but later died.
