Man, 22, seriously injured after falling from Olomana Trail

A 22-year-old man was in serious condition today after falling about 100 feet off Olomana Trail, authorities said.

The man was hiking about 10 a.m. when he fell from the third peak of the Windward Oahu trail, the Honolulu Emergency Medical Services said. Paramedics treated the man and transported him to a trauma center.

Several people have died after falling off the steep trail, which tempts hikers with its impressive views. Last June a 53-year-old man died after he fell about 200 feet off the trail between the first and second peaks.

An off-duty firefighter died after falling between the second and third peaks in January 2014.
