UH volleyball snaps 5-game skid
Senior hitter Siki Zarkovic put down 21 kills and freshman opposite Stijn van Tilburg added 16 as No. 8 Hawaii snapped a five-match losing streak by defeating No. 11 Cal State Northridge 25-18, 20-25, 25-22, 25-22 tonight in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation volleyball match in Northridge, Calif.
Junior hitter Kupono Fey added 14 kills with no errors on 20 swings for the Rainbow Warriors (11-9, 6-9 MPSF). Hawaii outblocked CSUN 12.5-2, with junior middle Hendrik Mol in on six and freshman setter Joe Worsley five.
Junior hitter Jakub Ciesla had 18 kills and freshman hitter Dimitar Kalchev 16 for the Matadors (12-8, 5-8). Junior Bradley Sakaida had three of CSUN’s five aces, all of which came in Set 2.
The teams meet again Saturday night at the Matadome.
