Police closed two Waianae-bound lanes of the H-1 freeway in Kapolei as firefighters battle a small brush fire sparked by a traffic accident.

Police said the crash happened about 5:30 p.m. near the Campbell Industrial Park offramp.

At least three fire companies were responding to the fire, said Honolulu Fire Department spokesman Capt. David Jenkins. Firefighters were close to reopening the lanes at about 6 p.m., according to radio communications.
