UH outlasts UC Irvine in volleyball
Senior hitter Siki Zarkovic put down a career-high 25 kills and No. 8 Hawaii won its first home match since Feb. 4 when holding off No. 14 UC Irvine 25-17, 23-25, 25-23, 21-25, 15-9 in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation volleyball match tonight at the Stan Sheriff Center.
Freshman middle Nainoa Frank added 10 kills and junior hitter Kupono Fey added nine kills. Senior libero Kolby Kanetake had eight digs to move into third place on the career list.
It was the first win over the Anteaters (8-16, 5-12 MPSF) in Honolulu in six matches for the Rainbow Warriors (13-9, 8-9).
Junior hitter Michael Saeta led UCI with 19 kills and junior hitter Thomas Hodges added 17.
