A minor earthquake on Maui this morning posed no tsunami threat.

A magnitude 3.6 earthquake shook Maui this morning but did not pose a tsunami threat to the rest of the state.

The minor temblor struck west Maui at 4:03 a.m., two miles southeast of Waikapu at a depth of 22 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The deep quake posed no tsunami threat, officials at the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said.
