Fire rescue personnel airlift injured hiker from Kailua trail

A female hiker slipped and injured her ankle while on the Maunawili Trail in Kailua Sunday and had to be airlifted by the fire department’s helicopter for treatment.

Fire rescue got the call at 4 p.m. and located the woman 30 minutes later, one mile in from beginning of the trail. The woman was stabilized, airlifted to the landing zone located at the Maunawili Community District Park and transferred to paramedics.
