Hawaiian Electric Co. reported power has been restored to more than half of the 1,300 customers who were without electricity in the Kaaawa-Hauula area.

The outage was reported at 10:30 a.m., and crews were dispatched to repair the damaged line, said Darren Pai, HECO spokesman.

About 550 customers remain without power, and will likely have the power restored by 5 p.m. today.

The cause of the outage has not yet been determined, Pai said.
