First-year Hawaii basketball coach Eran Ganot received a national award today at the CollegeInsider.com postseason awards banquet in Houston.
Ganot was named the winner of the Joe B. Hall Award, given annually to the top first-year coach in Division I.
He beat out nine other finalists for the honor after leading UH to a 28-6 record and the program’s first NCAA Tournament victory.
The 34-year-old Ganot, a former assistant at Saint Mary’s and UH, was also nominated for the Jim Phelan Award (top overall D-I coach) and Hugh Durham Award (top mid-major coach) at the banquet, but those went to Wisconsin’s Greg Gard and Yale’s James Jones, respectively.
Congrats Ganot. It was a season to remember.
for once allie has nothing to say
She is at an AA meeting for trolls under the bridge…
SA failed to mention that Ganot also won the jewish coach of the year award.
didn’t know he was jewish.
What’s your point, Oberführer? Get your (no doubt) overly-upholstered posterior out to an all-male Nazi bonfire and do what you and your people seem to enjoy so well.
Wow! Congrats and deservingly so.
Congrats coach Ganot and coach Beeman!!! Thank You both for finally bringing good news from UH to the people of Hawaii. You both deserve national recognition! Good job!!! =)
Ditto.
Wow. Congratulations Eran. Absolutely outstanding first year performance – well deserved recognition.
Awesome!
Doing the state and the program proud! Keep up the good work and the positive program
Congrats and well deserved. Maybe this will help the NCAA recognize that the BB infractions came at the expense of your predecessors, other players who have left the team last season, and grant UH’s appeal.
Congrats Coach
Awesome Award for Coach Ganot and UH Warriors!!! I’m actually quite surprized that they would chose a coach that’s not from one of the Power 5 conferences. Congratulations Coach and the Warrior Basketball team for earning this great award!!!
Congratulations Coach!! Your win is a win for UH & all of Hawaii!!
I guess allie was wrong about coach Ganot…how shocking is that. Congrats coach!
You da MAN!
Awesome! Shines a positive light on UH athletics and the University. Well deserved. Congratulations!
Go Warriors!
Should be receiving that big bonus soon.
AWESOME … SIMPLY AWESOME … Congratulations should go out to our AD/Dave Matlin for this hire … now let us all bow our heads in prayer and hope Nick Rolovich has the same success …
