Woman who died after hit by car in Kaimuki identified
The Medical Examiner’s office has identified the 73-year-old woman who was killed while crossing the street near Diamond Head Theatre Friday as Patricia Chung.
She died after she was struck by a 2000 Toyota Camry traveling south as she was crossing Makapuu Avenue at 7:55 p.m. She was not in a marked crosswalk.
The Camry was driven by a 41-year-old Honolulu man.
The official cause of death was determined to be multiple blunt force injuries.
This was Oahu’s 11th traffic death, compared to 14 at the same time a year ago.

so sorry. May God be with her soul
wear reflective clothing and carry a flashlight…
A daily walk is no longer safe for anyone in this rushed island full of inconsiderate no aloha drivers. We need self driving cars asap.
It happened at night, and she was not in a cross walk. In the dark, at night, we may be invisible, but we are not invincible.
Well said.
not sure if all four crosswalks at that intersection are marked. there may be two unmarked crosswalks there. while the article says she was not in a marked crosswalk, she may have been in the makai unmarked crosswalk.
On news and the picture on KITV4 site, the car and victim was right in front of the entrance by the sidewalk.
Why do you think cars have headlights? People drive at night all the time and 99.99% of them can see things and people ahead of them. I doubt that this 73 year old woman just darted out onto the street.
we will never know but assume………
