Man who allegedly escaped from police in handcuffs is captured in Nanakuli
A man who escaped from police custody in handcuffs near downtown on Friday was captured today in Nanakuli.
Saimone Mafi Jr., 27, was arrested about noon near Helelua Street and Helelua Place for investigation of second-degree escape. A CrimeStoppers bulletin said officers arrested Mafi after spotting him in a red Ford Explorer and pulling the SUV over.
A woman driving the SUV was arrested for seven warrants.
On Friday, Mafi was arrested about 8 p.m. for three warrants and taken to a medical facility for treatment of minor injuries. He fled and was last seen crossing Vineyard Boulevard on foot toward Pele Street, CrimeStoppers said.

I hope they didn’t just allegedly arrest him for escape.
Me too.
how can this guy in handcuffs get from Queens to Nanakuli with no one reporting it.
unreal.
Wow, the wahine get 7 warrants and he has 3.
How does one escape while handcuffed? Sounds like HPD’s finest aren’t very good at their job. Is any public employee ever held responsible for poor work performance? I don’t think so, the public worker unions have literally “bought” the Hawaii democratic party. The officer involved deserves to at least be suspended but he won’t be, they never are.
That officer will probably get promoted.
Why does the title include “allegedly”? Don’t they know he escaped?
Nor do they include the FACTUAL data on the woman who had seven NON alleged warrants.
“A woman driving the SUV was arrested for seven warrants.”>>> Nope. No complacency here with our legal system. :/
NFN, not from Nanaz.
