Senate confirms Hilo District Court judge

The state Senate Wednesday unanimously confirmed Deputy Prosecutor Darien W.L. Ching Nagata as the newest District Court judge in Hilo.

Ching Nagata, who joined the Hawaii County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office in 1998, will replace Judge Barbara Takase, who is retiring.

Ching Nagata will serve a term of six years.

Sens. Clarence Nishihara and Sam Slom were not present for the floor vote.
