University of Hawaii defensive tackle Kennedy Tulimasealii is scheduled to appear at a District Court preliminary hearing May 26 to face a felony charge of criminal property damage.
His attorney represented him at an initial appearance in District Court on Thursday morning.
Authorities charged him with a Class C felony on Monday for his alleged role in a March 1 incident.
Tulimasealii, 21, and his ex-girlfriend argued while he was a passenger and she was the driver of a 2012 Jeep, police said. Tulimasealii allegedly punched the touch-screen navigation system, cracking the glass. Damage to the Jeep, registered to his ex-girlfriend’s father, is estimated at more than $3,000.
Police arrested Tulimasealii on Monday at the main station. He was released after posting $20,000 bail.
The UH football team suspended him from team-related activities following his April 12 arrest. Tulimasealii was charged with resisting arrest, harassment and two counts of third-degree assault. The assault charges replace the initial accusation of two counts of abuse of a family or household member.
He remains on scholarship and is permitted to attend classes and study hall.
Tulimasealii, of Waianae, amassed 63 tackles in 2015, including 18.5 backfield stops. He will be a senior in the fall.
