UC Santa Barbara scores a run in the 9th to sweep Hawaii
No. 17 UC Santa Barbara completed a three-game sweep of Hawaii when Ryan Clark walked and scored on a fielder’s choice in the bottom of the ninth inning for a 5-4 victory today at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium in Santa Barbara, Calif.
Matt Valencia (3-1) worked the final 1 2/3 innings and gave up his first earned run of the season to take the loss for Hawaii (18-23, 7-8 Big West) which has lost eight of nine.
Jacob Sheldon-Collins went 4-for-5 to raise his season average to .411 and Ethan Lopez hit his first collegiate home run for the Rainbow Warriors.
Noah Davis (4-2) got Marcus Doi to hit into an inning-ending double play with the bases loaded in the top of the ninth inning to earn the win for UCSB (29-10-1, 8-4), which is 20-1 at home this season.
Kekai Rios went 2-for-2 with a double and two walks and Alex Fitchett was 2-for-4 with a double and scored a run.
UH finished 1-6 on a seven-game road trip and returns home for its next six games beginning with Long Beach State on Friday.

I know the players are trying but the outcome of this game does not surprise me.
