Hiker injured in fall near Wailua Falls

A tourist hiking near the Wailua Falls slipped and fell 20 to 30 feet down a hill this morning, the Kauai County Fire Department reported.

Firefighters used a helicopter to rescue the 57-year-old man, who was injured in the fall at about 8:56 a.m.

The helicopter brought the man to the parking lot of the Wailua Falls lookout, where paramedics took the man, from Concord, Calif., to Wilcox Hospital.

No information was released on his condition.
