Fire investigators are still trying to determine the cause of a fire that destroyed a Wahiawa home, causing nearly $200,000 in damage and displacing five people.

Honolulu Fire Department Capt. David Jenkins said today that the fire caused $173,000 damage to the structure, $15,000 damage to the contents and $10,650 damage to nearby property.

The fire erupted shortly before 4 p.m. Saturday at 246 Olive Avenue and destroyed a one-story single family home, displacing five people. The Red Cross was called to assist.

One man was home at the time, but escaped without injury.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control in about 20 minutes.
