Amy Schumer to appear at Blue Note
Stand-up comedian and actress Amy Schumer will give a one-time pop-up benefit performance tonight at Blue Note Hawaii, the Waikiki jazz club announced today.
Tickets went on sale at 11 a.m. and by noon were all sold out.
Schumer, who is in town to shoot an as-yet unnamed film with Goldie Hawn, has enjoyed a meteoric rise in popularity since the 2013 debut of her Comedy Central Show, “Inside Amy Schumer,” which has won several awards, including a Peabody and an Emmy. She also wrote and starred in the 2015 hit film “Trainwreck,” receiving nominations from the Golden Globes and the Writers Guild of America.
She is known for her self-deprecating remarks and frank observations about sex, feminism, race and relationships.
Comedian Wanda Sykes, known for her appearances on “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and “The New Adventures of Old Christine,” also will appear.
All proceeds for the show go to the Windward Spouse Abuse Shelter. The show is at 7 p.m. and tickets are $20. Doors open at 5 p.m. Blue Note Hawaii is located in the Waikiki Outrigger Resort, 2325 Kalakaua Ave. Visit bluenotehawaii.com or call 777-4890.
