Strong earthquake hits off coast of Indonesia; no tsunami threat to Hawaii
A strong earthquake struck off the coast of Indonesia this morning but does not pose a tsunami threat to Hawaii.
The preliminary magnitude 6.3 temblor struck at 9:15 a.m. Hawaii time 78.3 miles west-northwest of Kota Ternate, Indonesia at a depth of 23.8 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said a subsequent destructive Pacific-wide tsunami was not expected and that there is no tsunami threat to Hawaii.
No serious injuries were immediately reported.

Thank God. I often pray that Hawaii will be spared a disastrous natural event. I fear hurricanes the most. Let us pray for a quiet year as La Nina moves in slowly.
