Oregon State’s K.J. Harrison, a Punahou alumnus, will play for the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team for the second summer in a row.
Harrison appeared in all 54 games for the Beavers this season and led the team with 48 runs, 14 doubles, 10 home runs, 47 RBIs and 105 total bases.
In 17 games with the U.S. collegiate team last summer, Harrison had 10 hits, including two doubles, and scored six runs.
Florence, Payne win heats at Fiji Pro
Hawaii’s John John Florence and Dusty Payne won their third-round heats during the Fiji Pro on Tuesday in Namotu, Tavarua, Fiji.
Florence defeated Australia’s Taj Burrow 18.76 to 18.60 in 6- to 8-foot waves. Both scores were the highest of the day.
Payne beat Brazil’s Filipe Toledo 7.20 to 6.50.
Hawaii’s Keanu Asing was eliminated by Brazil’s Adriano de Souza 15.27 to 11.00.
