Man charged with felony in musubi robbery
A 21-year-old man has been charged with felony robbery after taking two musubis from a Mililani Foodland, police said.
Today, Seth Buhl-Howard, 21, of no local address, appeared before a District Court judge who upheld the charge of first-degree robbery against him and forwarded Buhl-Howard’s case to Circuit Court. Buhl-Howard was being held at Oahu Community Correctional Center unable to post $25,000 bail.
First-degree robbery is a class A felony, punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
Buhl-Howard allegedly took two musubis from the hot meals section of the Kipapa Drive store about 8:15 a.m. June 14 and put them in a pocket of his camouflage jacket.
When the store director, who had stopped Buhl-Howard for shoplifting before, approached him and demanded the musubis back, Buhl-Howard displayed the butt of a metal handgun, a police affidavit filed in District Court said.
Buhl-Howard walked out of the store and was stopped by responding officers. An officer searching Buhl-Howard found the gun and two musubis in his jacket, the court document said.

Either the Drugs made him do it or he was starving being homeless and all.
Oh, then it’s okay. :/
Yet he can afford a gun?!? How ’bout sell the gun and buy a hundred musubi?
Take this low life to the airport and put him on a plane to Syria.
I was thinking North Korea instead……
I have compassion…send him to Mexico.
Love it! Brilliant idea! hahahaha
Would his hand be cut off for stealing in Syria?
Sell the gun…buy more musubis
“When the store director… demanded the musubi back, Buhl-Howard displayed the butt of a metal handgun…”
LOSER!
Braddah neva even get a chance to eat um.
No worrry. Three squares and a cot at OCCC. He must be happy now.
hard to prosecute someone who is hungry, poor and homeless. however, when he uses a firearm to commit the crime, it’s time to prosecute.
Agree!
Yes, I was ok with the musubi part but when a gun came into play, that was over the top.
He might have been dying of starvation.
He might have been a thief with a gun.
no such thing…. there’s shelters and churches everywhere on oahu that provide free meals to homeless
People rarely die of starvation in the USA. Anyone can get a free meal. Maybe you have never been to a 3rd world country. You would never feel sorry for anyone here again. No one here knows real poverty.
You haven’t been to the poor sections of Memphis. And no, people cannot always find a free meal. There’s a church in my neighbor that provides a free meal — once a week. Doesn’t help with the other days. And it doesn’t help if you’re last in line and get turned away because the food’s run out.
This is not Memphis. In Hawaii most homeless are downright obese. The only really skinny homeless people in Hawaii are those strung out on crystal meth and don’t bother to eat.
20 years … 3 meals a day / medical / dental / “housing” … all at taxpayers expense …
so illegally, he robbed a store owner, and now legally he’ll be robbing the whole state.. makes sense.
Forgot sex change operations. Yeah, we pay for that too. Crazy.
He needed a gun to shop lift two musubi? Strange guy.
No worry, he will be out on hope probation soon. Maybe he can beat the record of 103 prior convictions and still be on probation.
Ho, Buhl! Mean!
Affinity for musubi? A good beef steak maybe like some women do secreting it under their skirt?
Did he register his weapon? If not is it a crime to conceal and carry? Why all the hoopla about having guns registered, if nothing happens to citizens carrying weapons. Is the law just for law abiding citizens, crooks get a free pass?
dont worry, those rules only apply to law abiding citizens
Like the musubi, gun was probably stolen as well.
People haven’t figured that out yet.
In what universe is a federal prosecution a free pass?
it’s going to be a hawaii circuit court case. feds are not involved.
Right. Whoops.
What a moron.
Our biggest challenge: What to do with hungry morons? Punish them. Make them feel the pain of incarceration. That should make them into good citizens. Or make them angrier than when they went in

I’ll tell ya what you don’t do. You don’t keep them out to where they can continually victimize law abiding citizens as prey.
I can imagine the conversation in jail.
A cell mate might say: “I’m in here for robbing a bank, what are you in here for?”
LOL !!!
2 musubi’s and facing up to 20 years in jail.
Charter School recap…..Piontek steals $200,000 and PROBATION
Thompson Academy sisters steal thousands and DEFERRED SENTENCES with community service.
Surely this guy’s sentence will be to “empty the trash” and he’s good to go?
C’mon SA writers, always shorting the details. Did he go for the plain, spam, w/egg or teri chicken musubi?
He should’ve gone to 7-Eleven. SPAM musubis are on sale.
idiot. no gun, probably no arrest.
And it finally happens…the homeless are armed with guns.
You don’t get 20 years for murder here. Give me a break. It does seem that we are are having more and more crimes involving people with no known address.Maybe we should stop letting people come here with a one-way ticket and no livelihood.
The big question: After his arrest, did the Foodland manager put the Musabi’s back in the heater for sale. How would you like to be eating one of those two Musabi’s?
I have seen this clown before several months ago at the same location and looks like wearing same jacket. Young drug addict
Lolo!!!
Felony – up to 20yrs…for two musubis? Wow.
Well… There was the small matter of the firearm.
