Composer Stephen Feigenbaum, front, stage director James Marvel and librettist Carol Maxym presented excerpts from “The First Lie,” an opera about the infamous Massie case and the murder of Joe Kahahawai, in a preview performance hosted by Bobby Carpenter and Dr. Garrett Saikley on June 29 at their Paiko Peninsula residence. Kahahawai was kidnapped and slain in 1932. His killers served one hour of “imprisonment” at Iolani Palace. For more information, visit the crowdfunding site fracturedatlas.org.
