UH coach Rolovich gets TV show
Nick Rolovich’s new University of Hawaii football coach’s show has the capability of reaching local, national and global audiences, according to Hawaii News Now general manager Rick Blangiardi.
Under a deal with Hawaii News Now, Rolovich’s show will air this season on Sunday nights at 10:30 on KGMB, Monday evenings at 6:30 on KHNL, up to eight times each week on the Fox College Sports Network, and stream on the internet.
“We’re very excited to have the opportunity to work with Nick Rolovich and his coaches, and play a role in helping to build the program,” Blangiardi told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser today.
Blangiardi said HNN sports director Collin Harmon will be the show’s host, and Taryn Hatcher and Ian Scheuring will be contributors.
Blangiardi said a video/reporting team will travel to each of the Rainbow Warriors’ seven road games this season.
Rolovich was hired as UH’s head coach in November, succeeding Norm Chow. Chow had a coach’s show for three years on OC Sports, which owns the local television rights to UH sports. Chow was not contracted for a show during the 2015 season.

Using this show as a recruiting tool? Subtle ways that will be within the scope of the NCAA rules. Win and that will help tremendously. Should be a big improvement with Rick behind the scenes.
I agree!
Agree gree!!
“A Star is Born”? Good Luck!
Didn’t former coach Norm Chow have a local TV show or regular one on one TV interview spots as well? How well did that help out with Chow’s recruiting success? Actually that is a rhetorical question because to listen to Chow have to make excuses for his constant failures was a downright painful and frustrating experience. This show will put a whole lot of pressure on first time coach Rolo. If he wins everyone will be tuning in and improving attendance, however if he continues with Chow’s losing ways, his increased public visibility will actually hasten the drumbeat to fire him.
AFTER CHOW’S 3RD GAME, I RENOUNCED MY ETHNICITY.
Chow had a show on local cable. Rolo’s show will be seen on broadcast TV in Hawaii and on the Fox Sports Network that reaches 60 Million viewers in the 25 largest markets. Big difference.
Rolo will continue having a TV show… until he starts losing.
That’s the spirit! (Not)
This is good for him.. but also our athletics.. they show highlights and talk about the good things they do.
The more times we can get our boys on TV the better chance some of them may get NFL contracts..
… All in with coach Rolo…..go BOWS….
Yesaaah!!
Hope all this hype ends in a positive note.
I luv this team been a fan since birth but daam we gotta start winning games..lol..I’m sure we are heading in that direction. .
I think this is awesome and don’t want to be a downer, but I think he should just be focusing on the game, the athletes and the coaching for now and hope we can win before he entertains the idea of a show…cheering them on either way – GO BOWS!
Awesome. Kekaula tried to be innovative, but in the end, his show bombed along with chow time. I wonder how it would have done if we were winners? I certainly enjoy RK on the news. Favorite sports caster. But in the booth calling the game….or in the head seat for the coaches show…not so much.
Go Warriors!
Rolo already got a quarter million $ raise with more $ in his pocket with this show. Not bad for a coach with no HC experience. He better have a winning record or the show will highlight his inexperience nationally.
