Popular Wahiawa freshwater fishing area to close for improvements

The 66-acre Wahiawa Freshwater State Recreation Area will close Monday for a week while the roadway and parking areas in the park entry are repaved and restriped.

Other improvements will be made for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act requirements, the state Department of Land and Natural Resources said in a news release.

The park entry gate on Walker Avenue to Lake Wilson will remain closed during this period, and the boat ramp will also be closed.
