Kauai resort adds 52 more rooms, more expected in August

LIHUE >> The Koloa Landing Resort and Spa has officially added 52 more rooms and is expected to add even more throughout the year.

The Garden Island reports that the resort in Poipu was already at 98 percent occupancy on Friday, just hours after dedicating the new building of studios and one-bedroom units. The resort currently has 306 rooms.

Koloa expects to add an additional 52 rooms on Aug. 15 and 104 more rooms are scheduled to be completed by the end of December. By next year the resort will open its swimming pool, restaurant and banquet facility.

The resort starting building in 2007 but like many other development projects was stalled during the Great Recession. The resort currently has 55 employees but is expected to have 275 by the end of the year.
