WASHINGTON >> Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus says Donald Trump has “pivoted” from his proposed ban on Muslims coming into the United States.
Priebus tells CNN “there is no religious test on the table,” despite Trump’s statement in December calling for a temporary ban of foreign Muslims from entering the U.S. until elected leaders could figure out “what is going on.”
Priebus says Trump is calling for a temporary ban on immigration from countries that harbor and train terrorists until the U.S. has a better vetting system.
The proposed ban is an example of where Trump differs from his pick for vice president. Indiana Gov. Mike Pence immediately called Trump’s proposal in December unconstitutional.
Priebus says the selection of Pence shows Trump didn’t want to surround himself with “yes people.”

Of course he did. He had to do the “politically correct” thing, despite what people on this comment board think.
There have been long lines – very long lines – at voter registration drives being held at mosques across the country. Mosques near US armed forces bases are offering rides for Muslim members of the military to attend voter registration drives. They are determined to prevent Mr. Trump from winning.
Even Mr. Trump can occasionally accept reality.

Now, where and when did you hear Mr. Trump and Mr. Pence say they are changing their position from their objection of President Obama and Ms Clinton’s position allowing thousands of Muslims into the United States without a complete vetting? Mr. Pence was selected to be Mr. Trumps running mate on Friday the 15th of July. Since then, I have not heard they changed their position on Muslims entering the United States.

JMV, that’s what I wanted Klastri to confirm. I watched the RNC Chair on CNN and MSNBC and did not say anything similar to what Klastri posted. Interesting.
You apparently didn’t read the article. It is about Mr. Trump’s inevitable change in position from his initial pathetic and unworkable “plan” of asking people what religion they are when entering the United States. You need to read a lot more.
Klastri, check out CNN report on June 21, 2016 some 3.3 million Muslims in the U.S. in 2015, 824,000 who are registered to vote, 1.8 are immigrants and not citizens of the U.S., and in 2016 voter registration is up by 300,000. Also, I read the article, but best is I watched and listened to the RNC Chairman’s attempt to say Mr. Trump had changed his position on Muslims, that a follow up call to Mr. Trump verified he did not change his position.
Too bad even Trump caved in to those who are going to ruin our culture.
Klastri, in Pence’s one-hour interview with Sean Hannity on Friday, he said he supported Trump’s proposal to ban refugees from certain countries and regions until the government is able to properly vet them. Nothing has changed. One more thing. Last December Governor Pence allegedly said Trump’s proposal was unconstitutional. I say it is constitutional because the Constitution does not apply to foreigners wanting to come to the United States. Being well-versed in the law as you supposedly are, do you agree or disagree with Pence and why?
No matter what I write, you won’t believe it, so you don’t really want to know.
You’re wrong. Mr. Pence was initially correct, of course. It’s not an allegation. He said it. You are changing what Mr. Trump said, but you’d need to do that so it makes any sense whatever.
I agree, Pence said it was unconstitutional. Please answer the question I asked. Is it unconstitutional? If so, why?
Ronin006 – Mr. Trump’s original plan – in addition to being plainly impossible to deploy or administer – conflicts with both the First Amendment’s Religion Clauses and the equality dimension of the Due Process Clause of the Fifth Amendment. It would also conflict with the spirit of the No Religious Test Clause of Article VI. There’s no chance whatever that SCOTUS would allow this to move forward. None.
It’s the plan of a nine year old. The fact that a major party nominee would utter something so ridiculous shows how the Republican Party has devolved. It’s a national disgrace, and Mr. Pence was correct to criticize it. Of course, his craven ambition to remain employed – he would have lost his campaign to remain Governor – now has him backing down. Few things are worse than a spineless man.
Klastri, the first Amendment prohibits Congress from passing laws respecting the establishment of religion or the free exercise thereof. Does not apply. No law has been passed and no US citizen or legal resident has been prohibited from the free exercise of religion. The due process clause of the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments to the Constitution prohibit all levels of government from arbitrarily or unfairly depriving individuals of their constitutional rights to life, liberty and property. The last time I checked you had to be a citizen or legal resident of the United States to have constitutional rights. The due process clause does not apply to foreigners wanting to come to the US. The religious test clause in Article VI forbids a religious test as a requirement for holding a governmental position. It does not apply to foreigners wanting to come to the US. Want to try again?

The goal now of Senator Sanders is organizing his supporters to make Mr. Trump’s defeat as broad and humiliating as possible. It’s thought that deep public embarrassment will shut him up forever.

Mr. Trump’s system for rejecting Muslim’s from entering was for someone at a border entry point to ask the traveler what religion they practiced. That was his system. It’s the plan of a sixth grader. Mr. Trump is guided by whatever shiny object rolls in front of him any given moment. Not five minutes of thought went into this plan.
Thankfully, he’s going to lose the election in a humiliating landslide.
That’s very true. Trump is on record saying that he values the “hunt” to obtain something, not the actual obtaining or possession of it. He has stated that should he become POTUS, he will become bored since the “hunt” is no longer occurring. It’s all a game to him, just like in his business dealings.
