Strong quake hits coast of Chile; no tsunami threat to Hawaii
A preliminary magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck the coast of Chile this morning, but does not pose a tsunami threat to Hawaii.
The temblor struck at 7:26 a.m. west-northwest of Diego de Almagro, Chile at a depth of 42.5 miles according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center did not post any warnings or advisories for the quake.
No injuries were immediately reported.
