Crews have finished repairing a 16-inch water main break at the site a sinkhole that took shape Sunday night on Punaluu Valley Road, according to the Board of Water Supply.
Water released by the main break, which was reported at 7 p.m. Sunday, along with storm-water from Tropical Storm Darby together caused the road to quickly deteriorate and open up. Residents were unable to drive on the road Sunday night and Monday.
Water service was restored to 24 affected customers at 6 a.m. One of the road’s lanes of is now reopened, and the BWS said the entire roadway will reopen later today.
