STAR-ADVERTISER / MARCH 2011

Lake Wilson, at the Wahiawa Freshwater State Park. The Medical Examiner’s Office identified the body of a 25-year-old homeless woman whose decomposing body was retrieved from Lake Wilson last week.

The cause of death of a 25-year-old homeless woman, whose decomposing body was retrieved from Lake Wilson last week, is pending the outcome of several tests, the Medical Examiner’s Office said today.

The victim was identified by the Medical Examiner’s Office as Darya White.

White’s body apparently had been in the water for several days and might have been the subject of a swimmer-in- distress call, the fire department said.

Firefighters were called to Wahiawa Freshwater State Park at about 9:30 a.m. on July 17 after a body was seen floating in the water.

Three days earlier, firefighters received conflicting reports about a female swimmer in distress and someone yelling at the lake, but no body was found at that time.
