John Stewart (1939-2008), a member of the Kingston Trio, wrote the song “Daydream Believer.” Producer Chip Hatlelid (better known as Chip Douglas, a member of the Modern Folk Quartet) introduced the song to the Monkees, who made it a hit. On Page 10 of Sunday’s Today section, the story “Facing the Music” incorrectly stated that Hatlelid wrote the song.
