Swimmer found unconscious in Waikiki dies at hospital
A 36-year-old swimmer died after he was found unconscious by other swimmers at Waikiki Beach Thursday.
At about 7 p.m., police said he was swimming in waters fronting the area near the Honolulu Police Department’s Waikiki substation. Other swimmers then found him floating unresponsive.
Bystanders brought him to shore and performed CPR until paramedics arrived. He was transported in critical condition to a hospital, where he later died.
His name has not been released.
