No. 15 Rainbow Wahine sweep Pacific
Senior opposite Nikki Taylor put down 22 kills to lead No. 15 Hawaii to a 25-15, 25-18, 25-23 sweep of Pacific in tonight’s second match of the Hawaiian Airlines Classic volleyball tournament at the Stan Sheriff Center.
In today’s first match, No. 8 UCLA rallied for a 21-25, 25-16, 25-18, 25-14 victory over Missouri State.
The Rainbow Wahine (3-2) and the Bruins (5-0) will meet in a true championship match Saturday at 7 p.m. UCLA, the defending tournament champion, has won 10 titles, Hawaii 11.
Taylor added 14 digs for her second consecutive double-double. Freshman setter Norene Iosia also finished with a double-double (29 assists-12 digs). Junior middle Emily Maglio was in on nine of Hawaii’s 11 blocks.
Senior hitter Lexi Elman led Pacific with 10 kills.
Pacific (2-3) meets Missouri State (2-3) for third place at 4:45 p.m. Saturday.
