Kauai Police investigating crashes in Waikoko
Kauai police found themselves with a mystery on their hands today.
At around 9 a.m., officers on patrol found two cars that had run off Kuhio Highway, both onto rocks near the ocean.
They were about 200 yards from each other, in Waikoko, near the western side of Hanalei Bay, according to Kauai County spokeswoman Sarah Blane. But it was unknown if the crashes were related.
Both cars were empty.
Police closed the road in both directions while they investigated.
One of the vehicles, red, downed a utility pole. Crews from Kauai Island Utility Cooperative and Hawaiian Telcom responded to the scene and completed repairs by 10 a.m.
