Police arrested one man and were looking for a second in a robbery and hit-and-run Saturday in Kalihi.
Police said two males robbed a 61-year-old man of his vehicle near Fern Elementary on Middle Street about 2:30 p.m. One of the suspects drove off in the stolen vehicle and struck the victim, who was not seriously hurt.
The second suspect, 31, was left behind at the scene and arrested on suspicion of first-degree robbery. The suspect who drove off in the victim’s vehicle abandoned it nearby and ran away, police said. Police recovered the vehicle.
Visitor dies after being found in the ocean
A 58-year-old Missouri man died Friday after being pulled out of the water at Sandy Beach.
Police said bystanders and lifeguards discovered the man unresponsive in the ocean at about 11:34 a.m. CPR was administered.
Paramedics treated and transported the man in critical condition to the hospital, where he died.
Life jacket prompts search by Coast Guard
A drifting life jacket spotted Saturday prompted the Coast Guard to launch an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Barbers Point to conduct a search of the area.
The crew of the research vessel Kilo Moana spotted the orange life jacket adrift at 7 p.m. about 5 miles southwest of Barbers Point. They were unable to recover it.
There were no reports of missing mariners, the Coast Guard said.
