Senior opposite Nikki Taylor put down 18 kills and No. 14 Hawaii swept Northern Illinois 26-24, 25-15, 25-15 in tonight’s second match of the Outrigger Resorts Volleyball Challenge at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Sophomore hitter McKenna Granato added nine kills and junior libero Savanah Kahakai had 14 of the team’s 32 digs as the Rainbow Wahine improved to 5-3.

In today’s opener, No. 6 Washington needed just 75 minutes to win its sixth straight, sweeping Utah State 25-10, 25-20, 25-17. Hawaii plays Washington on Sunday.

Hawaii outblocked NIU 10-7, with junior middle Emily Maglio and sophomore middle Casey Castillo each in on five.

Mary Grace Kelly had nine kills for NIU (5-2).
