UH soccer takes first loss

Brian McInnis

The Hawaii soccer team’s bid for the program’s first unbeaten start through seven games was denied by Colorado today, as the Buffaloes topped the Rainbow Wahine 3-1 at Prentup Field in Boulder, Colo.

In the first road game of the season for UH (5-1-1), the Wahine gave up a third-minute goal off a long flip throw-in into the box by Danica Evans, then fell behind 2-0 late in the first half when Taylor Kornieck converted a penalty kick.

The Wahine got on the board in the 65th minute when Dani Crawford earned a penalty kick and Raisa Strom-Okimoto made good on the shot for her team-best fourth goal of the season.

CU iced it with an 86th-minute goal by Evans.

UH continues its three-game road trip at Denver (3-4) on Sunday.
