This graphic shows the projected path and intensity of Tropical Storm Orlene over the next five days in the East Pacific.

Tropical Storm Orlene, the 15th named storm of the Eastern Pacific hurricane season, formed tonight and is likely to become a hurricane on Monday before it turns west toward the Central Pacific.

At 11 p.m. Hawaii time, the storm system was about 685 miles southwest of Baja California, moving northwest at 13 mph.

Maximum sustained winds were at 40 mph. They extend 80 miles from the center.

It is too far away to say if it will have any impact on Hawaii’s weather.

The posted map is terrible. It does not show the relationship between Tropical Storm Orlene and the Hawaiian Islands. I would have to take the longitude and latitude to a larger map to see the relationship.

The simple drawings are the toilet paper and rice charts. The actual satelite images are the real forecasting tools. Hate it when this happens, the drawings and charts shows actual storm as a tiny dot. Very misleading!
