Highway of history In May, Glenn Arita and his wife, Carleen, of Mililani were in Fredericksburg, Texas, the hometown of Adm. Chester Nimitz, commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet during World War II, where they stopped to take a photo of Glenn next to a Pearl Harbor Memorial Highway sign. The road is actually U.S. 290, which courses through the Texas Hill Country, passing through Fredericksburg. It was designated Pearl Harbor Memorial Highway in 1997.
