Kevin Hayashi shot a two-day total of 138 to win the Aloha Section PGA Professional Championship at Wailea Golf Course. With the victory, Hayashi has earned a spot in the 2017 Sony Open held Jan. 12-15 and will represent the Aloha Section at the 50th PGA Professional Championship from June 25 to 28.
Hayashi followed up a 66 score on Monday with a 72 Tuesday to finish at 6 under par, two strokes ahead of Kevin Carll and Eddie Lee. Carll earned the second Aloha Section spot, as Lee was not eligible to advance.
Orchard leads BYUH women’s soccer
Rachel Orchard scored a pair of goals to lead the BYU-Hawaii women’s soccer team to a 2-0 win over Academy of Art on Tuesday in San Francisco.
Orchard took a total of six shots, four of which were on goal, to lead a BYUH team (2-2-1, 1-2-1 PacWest) that dominated offensively over the Urban Knights (0-6-0, 0-1-0 PacWest). The Seasiders attempted 22 shots, 10 on goal, compared to only six total shots by Academy of Art, with three on goal.
The Seasiders will continue their road trip Thursday, traveling to face Notre Dame de Namur.
BYUH men dominate Academy of Art
The BYU-Hawaii men’s soccer team opened PacWest play in impressive fashion, posting a 5-0 victory over Academy of Art on Tuesday in San Francisco.
Five different players scored for the Seasiders (2-1-1, 1-0 PacWest), who attempted 16 total shots with 11 on goal. They also dominated defensively, holding the Urban Knights (0-5-1, 0-1 PacWest) to only eight shots with one on goal.
Next up for BYUH is Notre Dame de Namur on Thursday.
