Jewelry features famed statue’s preserved copper
Alex and Ani has introduced a limited-edition jewelry collection featuring original copper preserved from the Statue of Liberty’s centennial restoration.
The Liberty Copper collection was created in partnership with the Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation Inc., and includes 26 pieces featuring a replica of Lady Liberty’s torch made from preserved copper. During the restoration that took place between 1984 and ’86, the statue’s original iron frame and copper supports were replaced by stainless-steel armature.
The signature card that accompanies each purchase reads in part, “When we CARRY LIGHT, we ignite the light in others, and create one light indivisible.”
Prices range from $38, with nylon cord, to $2,000 for a sterling-silver and 14-karat, gold-plated necklace. Find the collection at the Alex and Ani shop at Ala Moana Center or online at alexandani.com.
