A 28-year-old Waianae man turned himself in to police Monday night in connection with four bank robberies in Mililani and Pearl City.
Police said the man robbed three of the banks on Friday by handing a teller a note demanding money. He was arrested in connection with a fourth robbery at a Mililani bank that occurred before Friday, police said.
The suspect surrendered at the Kapolei police substation at 6:30 p.m. Monday and was booked for investigation of four counts of second-degree robbery.
The crime spree on Friday began at about 2:15 p.m., police said, with a robbery at Hawaii National Bank in Pearl City, followed by one about a half-hour later at American Savings Bank in Mililani Town Shopping Center, and the last one about 90 minutes after that, at Central Pacific Bank in Pearl City.
Police said in several of the four robberies the suspect’s demand note mentioned a weapon, but no weapon was shown.
Surveillance video images released by police from the three bank robberies on Friday show what appears to be the same man wearing an orange T-shirt over a black long-sleeve shirt, a black-and-green hat, dark sunglasses and blue jeans.
