No. 13 Rainbow Wahine sweep Riverside

Junior middle Emily Maglio put down nine kills and No. 13 Hawaii won its 25th consecutive Big West volleyball match, sweeping UC Riverside 25-15, 25-6, 25-17 tonight at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Senior opposite Nikki Taylor added eight kills and was in on eight of the 14 blocks for the Rainbow Wahine (11-4, 4-0). Junior libero Savanah Kahakai had 14 of the 50 digs for Hawaii, winning its sixth straight.

Meg Graham and Mickayla Sherman each had five kills for the Highlanders (5-9, 0-2). Cristina Marietta had 10 of UCR’s 44 digs.

  • Another big yawn match. Only thing these matches prove is how bad most of the conference teams are. Stats are meaningless in these games and so are individual performances. It does nothing to prepare the team for post season except giving the starters rests but that’s negated by the lack of chances to hone their skills.
