A three-game opening series against N.C. State headlines the nonconference slate for the Hawaii baseball team.
The full 2017 schedule was released on Monday with Hawaii playing 35 home games in its 51-game schedule.
The Rainbow Warriors open up at home against the Wolfpack, who went 38-22 last year and hosted an NCAA regional before getting eliminated by eventual College World Series champion Coastal Carolina.
It will be the first meeting in baseball between the two schools.
UH also will host series against San Francisco, Sacred Hearts, Indiana, San Jose State and Nevada before opening Big West play on April 7 at Cal Poly.
Hawaii also will play in the Dairy Queen Classic on March 3-5 in Minneapolis against Iowa, Minnesota and Oral Roberts.
“We want to challenge ourselves every year with the strongest possible schedule,” Hawaii coach Mike Trapasso said in a press release. “The Big West Conference is one of the premier baseball leagues in the NCAA, with three different teams going to the College World Series over the past three years. This is not a schedule for the faint of heart, with 10 teams reaching the NCAA postseason the past two years.”
Trapasso enters his 16th season as head coach with a 426-422 overall record. Hawaii finished 12-12 in Big West play for the second consecutive season last year but has had four straight losing seasons with at least 30 losses.
Hawaii returns eight of its top 10 hitters from last season and its 2017 recruiting class was ranked No. 37 by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.
UH will start BWC play with road series at Cal Poly and UC Riverside before closing the season with 12 of its final 18 games at home.
UH ends the season with a three-game series at Les Murakami Stadium against UC Santa Barbara, which advanced to the College World Series last year.
