Delaware State freshman wide receiver Fatu Sua-Godinet, a 2016 Kamehameha alumnus, was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference rookie of the week on Monday.
Sua-Godinet caught five passes for 84 yards, including his first career touchdown on a 23-yard pass late in the first half of a 27-17 loss to Hampton on Saturday.
Sua-Godinet is second on the Hornets with 140 receiving yards and tied for third on the team with 10 receptions. He’s also returned three kickoffs this season for 48 yards.
Zablan is NWC’s top defensive player
Pacific (Ore.) senior defensive specialist Lia Zablan, a 2013 Kamehameha alumna, was named the Northwest Conference volleyball defensive student-athlete of the week on Monday.
Zablan averaged 4.50 digs per set in road victories over Willamette (Ore.) and Pacific Lutheran last week. She had 17 digs, three assists, a kill and an ace in a sweep of the Bearcats and added 19 digs in a five-set victory over the Lutes.
The win ended Pacific’s 26-game losing streak to Pacific Lutheran.
Zablan is the fourth different athlete from Hawaii to win the award in the past six weeks, joining Willamette’s Kaylen Higa (Punahou ’14), PLU’s Caylie Shiramizu (University ’15) and Lewis & Clark’s Alexe Navarro (Mid-Pacific ’13).
Apo earns GNAC volleyball honor
St. Martin’s (Wash.) sophomore Cassidy Apo was named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference volleyball defensive player of the week on Monday.
Apo, a 2015 Kamehameha alumna, averaged 7.43 digs per set in wins of Montana State Billings and Seattle Pacific last week.
She tallied 28 digs and two assists in a four-set victory over MSU Billings on Saturday and had 24 digs in a win over Seattle Pacific last Tuesday.
This is Apo’s first weekly conference award and the first won by a St. Martin’s volleyball player since 2013.

>> Spencer Dunaway, Kamehameha ’15: The Brigham Young sophomore shot an even-par 71 in the final round of the Alister MacKenzie Invitational to finish in a tie for 23rd place at 4 under.
>> PJ Samiere, Punahou ’14: The San Diego State junior shot an opening-round 7-under 64 before finishing in a tie for 27th place at 3 under in the Alister MacKenzie Invitational.
WOMEN’S GOLF
>> Ciera Min, Waiakea ’13:The Gonzaga senior earned her fourth consecutive top-five finish when she finished in second place at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational on Tuesday in Lakewood, Wash. Min shot a 3-under 69 in the final round, with birdies on Nos. 14, 15 and 16. She missed a 15-foot putt for birdie on 18 that would have tied her for the lead. She finished the tournament at 2-under 214.
>> Rose Huang, ‘Iolani ’15:The Brigham Young sophomore posted the best score in the final round of the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational with a 5-under 67 to finish in a tie for fourth place at even-par 216.
>> Kimberlee Miyamoto, Baldwin ’14: The Eastern Washington junior finished in a tie for 39th place at 16 over in the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational.
>> Kirsten Ishikawa, Baldwin ’15: The Eastern Washington sophomore finished in a tie for 55th place at 19 over in the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational.
>> Zoe Yamamoto, Sacred Hearts ’16: The Franklin Pierce freshman followed up a top-10 finish at the Northeast-10 Conference Championships with her first collegiate medal when she won the Kutztown University Fall Invitational last Monday. Yamamoto finished the two-day tournament at 14-over 154 and led the tournament with 23 total pars in 36 holes.
