Trump praises Gingrich for criticism of Fox News’ Kelly

Moderator Megyn Kelly waited for the start of the Republican presidential primary debate in Des Moines, Iowa on Jan. 28. Former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich told Kelly she is “fascinated with sex” amid criticism of her coverage of sexual misconduct accusations against GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump.
NEW YORK » Donald Trump praised Newt Gingrich today for an “amazing interview” with Fox News Channel host Megyn Kelly, in which the former speaker told Kelly that she is “fascinated with sex.”
The heated exchange on Kelly’s program Tuesday night ended with her suggesting Gingrich take some time for anger management.
The riveting confrontation revived dormant ill will with the Trump campaign toward Kelly that dates to his anger at her asking him at a pre-Republican primary debate more than a year ago to account for statements about women. Trump boycotted a later GOP debate when Fox wouldn’t remove Kelly as a moderator.
Gingrich attended Trump’s dedication of his new hotel in Washington today, and the candidate recognized him in the audience.
“Congratulations,” Trump said. “That was an amazing interview last night … We don’t play games, Newt.”
For his part, Gingrich said “that’s just the business” when he was asked by reporters about the exchange.

Gingrich, a Fox contributor interviewed Tuesday as a Trump surrogate, and Kelly began arguing when she asked him about allegations by several women that the Republican presidential candidate had groped them or kissed them against their will.
“You are fascinated by sex and you don’t care about public policy,” Gingrich said.
“Me? Really?” Kelly replied with a slight laugh.
Gingrich interrupted Kelly when she began a statement by saying, “if Donald Trump is a sexual predator.” He accused her of slapping that label on Trump. Kelly said she’s not taking a position on it, “unlike you.”
Gingrich asked Kelly whether she wanted to comment on whether the Hillary Clinton ticket has a relationship to a sexual predator. Kelly said her program had covered past allegations made against former President Bill Clinton and noted that Bill Clinton — unlike Trump — wasn’t a current candidate for president.
“I want to hear your words: Bill Clinton, sexual predator,” Gingrich said. “I dare you. Say ‘Bill Clinton, sexual predator.’”
Kelly ignored his request.
After some more back-and-forth, Kelly ended the segment. “We’re going to have to leave it at that and you can take your anger issues and spend some time working on them, Mr. Speaker,” she said.
The exchange was a popular topic on social media, where — depending on the point of view of those posting — Gingrich either “schooled” Kelly or vice versa.
By mid-morning, Trump hadn’t tweeted about it. His social media director, Dan Scavino Jr., tweeted that the exchange shows Kelly “is totally biased against Mr. Trump and not very smart.”
Fox had no immediate comment today on the exchange.

Based on the percentage found by the IC IG, is very high. This is hard to explain given that the FBI found much fewer than 10%. The 10% would imply that 3,000 of 30,000 were classified at the time they were sent and received.
Thus, it appears likely that something “happened” to many of the classified emails such that the FBI didn’t count them.

And their divergent results have put their unique methods under serious scrutiny.

Both Investor’s Business Daily and TIPP claim their survey has been the “most accurate presidential poll in America” — a tenuous boast based on their assessment of combined performance from the past three presidential elections. Like most polls in 2012, they underestimated the incumbent’s margin of victory. Their final poll in 2012 showed Obama leading by 1 point; he won by nearly 4 points. Their results were closer to the mark in 2008 and 2004.
TIPP pollster Raghavan Mayur addressed the Post’s critiques in a phone interview with POLITICO on Wednesday. First, Mayur said, TIPP does not weight their poll to ensure they have the right mix of voters by education level — despite the fact education has been a defining fissure in this race, especially among white voters.
“I have done extensive testing about that quite a while back,” he said. “It never gave me good results. … I also think that people tend to overstate their education. That’s why I feel it’s not a very good measure.”

CNN host Anderson Cooper pointed out Wednesday night the ridiculousness of Donald Trump surrogate Newt Gingrich accusing Megyn Kelly of being “fascinated with sex”.
“For Newt Gingrich to accuse Megyn Kelly of being fascinated by sex. This is a guy who is, what, on his third marriage, cheated on his first two wives, and was having an affair while he was impeaching Bill Clinton,” Cooper said.
“For a male like him with his record on relationships to accuse Megyn Kelly of being fascinated by sex, just seems like a particularly ironic thing.”
CNN contributor Ana Navarro agreed during the panel debate of Gingrich’s bizarre defense of the Republican nominee.
“You said ironic. I think the word you’re looking for is hypocritical,” she said, adding that Kelly was reporting on mounting sexual assault allegations leveled at Trump.
“Let me explain it slowly,” Navarro continued. “Sexual assault and sex are two different things. One is unwanted, one is wanted, so maybe they need to understand that to begin with.”
Gingrich and Trump seemed to be proud of the bizarre Fox News moment. During a campaign appearance earlier on Wednesday, Trump praised Gingrich for “an amazing interview.”

Lively debate is fine, however Ms. Kelly has really developed an antagonistic style. My wife and I used to watch her…we simply opt not to anymore…very irritating. Perhaps she may want to opt out of her contract with Fox and become a member of “The View”… 🙂
